2007 GERWC Annual Awards Banquet, February 3, 2007 : This was the 10th Annual Awards Banquet held at SWIRCA in Evansville. Bill Hussmann was the MC and chairman for the event. The awards for HS Runners of the year went to Emalie Alvey of Castle HS and Ryan Witters of Memorial HS. The team awards went to Castle HS Girls and Central HS Boys. Speaker for the awards banquet was Louis Cady, MD. We were grateful to have USI Emeritus Cross Country Coach Bill Stegemoller attend our banquet.

The Evansville Otters Run : The Evansville Otters Run was held Saturday August 12,2006 at Bosse Field in Evansville, just prior to the doubleheader between the Evansville Otters and the Florence Freedom from Kentucky. The 5K run sponsored by the Greater Evansville Runners/Walkers Club is a yearly event where each individual is given a time handicap based on age and sex, then a staggered start. The overall winner this year was Curtis Stautz. The race which normally ends in the stadium, finished by the Garvin Park fountain because of the early start for the doubleheader. The race T-shirt was again designed by the Greater Evansville Runners club's own Cedric Hustace. All the participants received a complementary pass to the game.

The 2006 Illinois River to River Relay : The GERWC fielded 2 teams this year in the Illinois River to River Relay on April 22, 2006. The Young and the Restless was the name of our Handicap Division Team and Team Benfield the Mixed Division Team. The Y and the R team finished 10th in the Handicap Division and Team Benfield 2nd in the Mixed Division.

The 2006 Toyota Spring Day 8K, Tulip Tree Mile and First Step Runs : This was the 5th Spring Day 8K held on May 5, 2006 at TMMI headquarters just south of Princeton, IN. The weather was perfect for running this year and a new male course record 26:51 for the 8k was set this year by 2 runners Nick Wanninger and Jeremy Kempfer, both Univ of Evansville CC runners crossing the line together (see pictures). There were 365 finishers in the 8K and multiple participants in the kid's fun runs and mile.

2006 GERWC Annual Awards Banquet, February 4, 2006 : This was the 9th Annual Awards Banquet held at SWIRCA in Evansville. The banquet was attended by 120 members and guests, including our guest speaker, Anne Audain, world reknown road runner and track athlete, former world record holder in the 5K, native of New Zealand and now Amercian citizen and resident of Evansville. Anne helped with the awards to club members and high school cross country teams and male and female athletes of the year in cross country.
